International headliner Mina Hartong is a comedian, host based in NYC. She headlined for Olivia Travel, Joe's Pub and was featured in the New York Times. Mina is also a lifelong educator and was a public school theater teacher for 20 years.

What makes you the Next Runway Star?
Since retiring from teaching public school, I am embracing my age, and the time I have left to pursue my dream to be a national headlining comedian. I started at an open mike when I was 25. I know what is to work 24/7 at your dream, to see the big picture and to stay in the race. Having just filmed and produced my first comedy special Miss Personality with an all women/ queer and LGBTQIA team, I am stepping into my moment and not looking back. The runway is the place for that. I can do hard things.
What would this once in a lifetime experience mean to you and why?
I have lived in New York City for 25 years and consider it home. It would be an honor to walk in one of the events that puts our city on the map. Our city has and continues to go through so much hardship; I would love to bring some joy to the city that holds me every day and makes me feel like I belong. I have always loved " dressing up" and I am known for costume changes throughout the day. Accessories are my love language and Trina Turk is my go to. Let's go!
What are you most proud of about yourself or what have you overcome and why?
I am proud that even at "my age" I refuse to be ignored. Aging means less physical stamina and bandwidth. Comedy means late nights and constant hustle. I'm exhausted a lot of the time, but I don't give up. I have contributions and connections to make and I can have a positive impact on all generations. I love mentoring new comedians, and I'm proud that I have created a life and career doing what I love- teaching, performing and taking huge risks and showing others they can too.
What would you do with the $20,000 cash prize?
My special comes out in September. I have almost 2000 followers on Instragram. Without a larger following, touring nationally is an obstacle and venues won't take a chance on me. I would use the prize to fund a multi city tour to bring my full hour special around the country and the world, especially to small cities that do not have comedy clubs readily accessible. Along the way, the cash prize would allow me to hire comedians who are starting out to open for me, pay them, and get us a decent hotel room along the way!
