What makes you the Next Runway Star?
I have the professionalism, the ambition, heart, and spirit. I never saw myself as the best looking person but after being repeatedly told by strangers to model, I figured I’d give it a shot! I’ve built up my confidence and courage and become comfortable in front of a camera, crowds, and strangers, all to prep for moments like this. I’m prepared for anything!
What would this once in a lifetime experience mean to you and why?
I feel like everyone has their ups and downs and ,especially nowadays, I hear about more downs than anything. I’ve experienced some of those first hand. This once in a lifetime experience would help me and others see that there are great things out there in life that happen to ordinary people like myself, every single day. To change lives and outlooks. This experience means more than just “getting exposure”. But finding my new path, with likeminded people, who are just like me in their own unique ways.
What are you most proud of about yourself or what have you overcome and why?
As much of a cliche it may seem, I’m proud of the body I’ve built over the last few years. I’ve always struggled with my eating, and exercising, and always being the skinny kid. It took a toll on my body even more as well as my mental health, always hearing about how skinny I was and how I should “just eat more”. It was never that simple. But every day I worked at it, regardless of if I fell off the boat, I would still keep swimming because I couldn’t afford to let myself drown. So overall, I’m proud of the body I’ve built, the confidence and determination I’ve gained along the way. Everyone has their own journey with mental health and lifestyle, and I’ve just started up the hill with mine.
What would you do with the $20,000 cash prize?
With the $20,000 prize, I would finally get a home closer to my family! I’ve been living away from them for about 3 years now and so it’s always made me an outsider and feel alone. And this would finally give me that chance to catch up with finances, move locations, and continue to do what I love!
