What makes you the Next Runway Star?
I am full of personality and spunk! I am very outgoing and love fashion. I think I bring a certain flair to the runway representing both my Latin heritage and my American upbringing.
What would this once in a lifetime experience mean to you and why?
This once in a lifetime experience would mean the world to me. My entire life I have fought to be heard and be seen. This would help elevate me to a platform that I've never had before. I've always been told I was too short to model, or too feminine, or not androgynous enough or not masculine enough. It's been a revolving door of rejection and excuses and this would prove to the world that there is space for all of us.
What are you most proud of about yourself or what have you overcome and why?
I am most proud of the progress and success I have made. I am the son of Cuban immigrant parents. We grew up with nothing but each other. Luckily, my parents have always encouraged me to pursue my dreams because they had to give up on theirs. I have stuck to my ambitions and my morals throughout my life and hope that I have made them proud.
What would you do with the $20,000 cash prize?
My parents have never had the life they dreamt of. I would love to take them on a whirlwind trip to repay them for all the sacrifices they have made throughout their lives. They have worked two and even three jobs at a time to help support my brother and I. I would not be where I am today without them. My dad recently survived a long battle with cancer and his dream has always been to visit Japan! He loves the culture and the food. I'd love to take him to celebrate his life.
