What makes you the Next Runway Star?
My charisma and physical/emotional shape for my age, and experience being on stage for over 40 years.
What would this once in a lifetime experience mean to you and why?
My mother was a seamstress. When I was little, she taught me how to steach the parts of the dresses she was cutting and preparing for fitting. She was making my and my sister's outfits till we got married. I still keep my prom dress and my wedding dress, which my mom made for me...I wore my prom dress in many other occasions in years after, still love it and still fit in it...Growing up we love making our own runways at home and using dresses, my mom sawed and showing it off to each other. So, if i get chosen to participate, i will honor the spirit and talent of my mom, who passed away 7 years ago.
What are you most proud of about yourself or what have you overcome and why?
I am proud to be mother of my own daugther, to be the person who i became; compassionate, socially engaged, active in my creative work. I was able to build a life and profession in US, being recognized by NYC mayor, Manhattan President, The Society of foreign consuls in New York, for my artistic and community work. I have been building a company for 20 y today and gave platform for more than 600 people to study dance and perform. I overcame my personal insecurities, by showing up for myself with courage and determination. I was able to obtain three graduate degrees, two from the same college in US, ax well as license and board certification to practice as therapist in the state of NY. there many more daily victories, with which i am able to inspire my communities, providing monthly dance social events for the larger community of tango and folk dance.
What would you do with the $20,000 cash prize?
I will invest the money it in my profession, traveling and teaching, sharing my knowledge and experience. I would love to bring my company to perform in festivals. I can publish my book about Tai-Chi and Dementia treatment, or my memoir...
