What makes you the Next Runway Star?
Realistically? I’m just here for the love of the game. Have you seen the other people applying to this thing? There are some gorgeous girlies out there! I’m here for the love of the game and for the remote chance of getting those $20,000 for my program.
What would this once in a lifetime experience mean to you and why?
I’m already living my once in a lifetime experience. I came from Honduras to pursue my education at just 16 years old by myself and haven’t stopped since. Im currently building my dream life, one day at a time.
What are you most proud of about yourself or what have you overcome and why?
im proud of how hardworking I am. I pride myself on NEVER giving up and always setting myself up for success. I’m ambitious, and I fight hard for what I believe in. I always want to know more; I want to hear people’s stories. Through my work in film and media, I’ve had the opportunity to help bring visibility to vulnerable communities and organizations in both Honduras and the U.S. I’m also incredibly proud to have received three Student Production Awards for Excellence from NATAS. For me, some of the most meaningful work is work that allows me to tell stories that matter and help people feel seen.
What would you do with the $20,000 cash prize?
With the $20,000 prize, I would put a large part of it toward my grad school program. I don’t qualify for loans or financial aid, so I’ve always had to find ways to pursue my dreams. Getting to grad school was hard enough, and figuring out how to pay for it is even harder. I come from a single-mother household, surrounded by women, all teachers. The women in my life taught me resilience, and being able to graduate is my priority and #1 objective. What seemed impossible at first, I did (or I’m attempting to, haha). I believe in knocking on every single door until one opens. I’d also love to share part of the prize with causes I care about, especially some I’ve already supported through my work. Apparently, I have more plans than $20,000 can cover 😂.
