What would this once in a lifetime experience mean to you and why?
This is so EXCITING!!! Yes, it is definitely a once in a lifetime spectacular opportunity. It supports my PHILOSOPHY and VISION that any Man can feel like a KING and every Woman can feel like a QUEEN. We will get a chance to walk the runway and wear designer fashions. It is remarkable! It's LEGENDSTY. I studied dance and more at the Dance Theater of Harlem, after I received my Bachelor of Arts Degree in Liberal Studies. I stayed in Manhattan, road the subways, ate pizza, hot dogs and fried rice almost every day. I got up early, walked to the subway station and returned to my Brownstone studio apartment late in the evenings, by myself. I also had to carry my Capezio Dancer Bag with my ballet slippers, tap dance shoes and character shoes. I never planned to leave New York but we had a family emergency, My grandmother on my mother's side passed away and they flew me back to California. I promised myself I would return someday... What are you most proud of about yourself or what have you overcome and why?
I was raised in a disadvantaged area. It was predominately in an African American low income community. When I was only 10 years old my parents moved to the East Side where we attended schools in a multicultural area. I was also blessed to be a part of a California Youth In Arts Program called "The K-A-R-I-S-M-A Kids". We performed with Celebrities like the legendary Lena Horn. We performed at: churches, schools, community events, parks, fashion shows, hotels and concerts. I held those memories in my heart. I finished and graduated from Roosevelt Performing Arts High School (The same one as Audrey McDonald Opera Singer ). I went to college and completed my Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies. I was Teaching students in the same community I grew up and we took them on a fieldtrip to the William Saroyan Theater. Students and Teachers were asked to go on stage and dance that's how I got invited to attend The (DTH) Dance Theater of Harlem in NEW YORK!!! The experiences inspired my DREAM
What would you do with the $20,000 cash prize?
I plan to invest in my own Shopify Business estherarose.com startanium.com johnnyleeandme.com I will give prizes and gifts to my followers and supporters. The $20,000.00 cash prize will also help me with The ESTHER-A-ROSE School of The Performing Arts Academy. I will pay my tithe and fix my credit so I can obtain more funding and resources for my (K-12) S.T.E.A.M. Science Technology Engineering Arts Mathematics School of the visual and performing arts. The exemplary school for disadvantaged students and families will consist of a rigorous Academics, Athletics and Arts program with a well-rounded and balanced curriculum. I want to employ other Talented Leaders and work with Stakeholders to ensure optimal success. RISE & ESTHER-A-ROSE can continue to address the mental, physical, emotional and spiritual healing of abused victims in a psychologically safe environment. DIGNITY MATTERS and we can collaborate on how awareness can be best implemented in the School(s) under early intervention.
